A very serious and crucial topic nowadays, if a women gets raped or becomes pregnant should she be given the option to have an abortion, yes or no?

Please keep it clean and respect everyone’s opinion.

I personally believe that women should have a choice in abortion. I don't think the government has the right to pass something so stern over an issue so personal.

I am Against abortion. They should have thought about it before they had sex.
But then again, rape. But it is murder.

Really it all boils down to when it becomes a person, would you consider some cells a person? If yes then you'd probably be against abortion however if you say no and that only once it say grows limbs, you'd be for abortion. I don't think the government has the right to say what people can do on such a personal level. Also, the mother may not be able to care for the child and have enough money for medical aid, there are good reasons for some people to get abortion.

I'm a Pro-Life person, but I do have limits when it comes to I leave it in the hands of the mother.

First would be rape. That's a horrible ordeal and a woman should not be forced to carry around a reminder of that horrible incident. If that happened to me, I would be very likely to have an abortion. Any reason for me not to would be something religion oriented, most likely.

Next would be the mother's life. My grandmother had an abortion of twin boys, as one of them died and was beginning to kill her and the other.

I agree with the first part to a certain extent. If people are capable of caring for a baby and it wasn't rape and the mother's life isn't endangered, then abortion should be out of the question.

But honestly, I wouldn't want my child to be a rape baby. It would be very traumatic for me and especially when the child becomes curious about his/her father.

Saying abortion after rape is murder is a little extreme IMHO.

Should the woman suffer through an experience she doesn't want? XP

9 Months is a long time. In the cases of rape, it's something that never goes away and will forever remind her of the horrible guy who raped her. Even if it is illegal, some women will be desperate and try abortion through other, more dangerous methods.

I'm going to agree with Para on this one. I'm mostly pro-life, except in the case of rape or when the mother's life is threatened. If a woman is raped, it should be her decision whether or not to get an abortion, as the entire pregnancy would be a reminder of the incident and would likely be very traumatizing.

On the other hand, if a woman gets pregnant by accident or as a result of carelessness, I believe abortion should be out of the question. It seems like a useless waste of life just to avoid the trouble that pregnancy and the adoption process would be.

But she should have thought about that before sex!
Basically, I think you should only be able to choose what happens once.
You can choose to have sex and not have a choice about a child, because You made the decesion.
Or you did not have a choice during sex (rape) then you should have a choice for abortion or not.

But when the baby is risking the mother's life then yes. You wanted the baby, it was not like you were being stupid. You can try to have another child.

So I agree that if you get pregnant because of carelessness than you should raise the child. However, if you will die because of the baby or if it's because of rape, then you should get to choose.

I would hope the mother would choose to keep the baby, but that's my personal opinion.

Well, it's not that you have to raise the child. If you really don't want it, then I'm sure some family would love to have the child. Some parents suffer from sterility and would like to adopt a baby, so you shouldn't be forced to raise the child if you really don't want to. XP But I do agree with you for the most part.

Yes. Someone would love it. Eventhough it is sad that they would give it away. She main thing is that I believe that it should not be killed because of someone not using protection or because they were careless.

what about the people you hear are born with out limbs they are people >.> it's not a matter of limbs, they say the baby isn't alive till it's born, not true, it's not alive till the woman gets pregnant, no the government does not have the right to say what woman should do what-so-ever, but I do not think it's right, if you knew for a fact that you would die, or it would die, then you may have no other choice. But if you ask me I see no other reason to abort. From what I hear, alot of woman who have abortions have emotional breakdowns afterward, even if they didn't want the baby.

People born with diseases or something happened while they were pregnate that hirts the baby, well that really depends then. Like, on TLC they had a lady on there that had no lower body, but she still took care of her husband and her mentally disabled brother. Just because something was wrong with her does not mean she could not take care of herself and others. But some problems can not be lived with, for those it might be better for the baby to die so it does not suffer, but some diseases can be concurred.

true, but you don't know 98% of the time if the baby will be born with a problem or not, it's mostly guess work, but if you do know for a fact it will, and you think it will suffer, then it's up to the parents if they do, but if the abort just because they don't want kids I don't think it's right, adoption is better then that.
